The question I get asked a lot is: can I draw myself at all?
I can and I can’t is the answer.
As you know from my previous post I knew I would not be able to draw the illustrations to my poems myself, the way I saw them in my imagination. I needed an illustrator for that.
However, even thought I haven’t drawn for ages I do love drawing! Especially drawing with soft pastels, pencils, charcoal or graphite. While using any of those mediums you are able to put one layer over the next one really quickly. You can blend colours and play with them so easily. The details, the precision that can be achieved are superb. It’s the fun of “drawing” with your fingers, cotton, painting brush, piece of paper – you can use literary anything for drawing.
I like using colours, yet at the same time drawing with one colour is simply fascinating for me. So many different shades in one picture. One colour to express everything! I can draw by looking at something. I would need more practice to draw from my imagination. In the future, I would love to start painting with watercolours. The watercolours seem a bit uncontrollable to me – it would be great fun to try to control them.
Below there is one of my favourite pictures I drew. It’s called “The Fury”
